Aviation Academia Serbia

The Aviation Academy is a unique school in the region, educating aviation personnel. The Aviation Academy has recognized and supported all activities and projects related to teaching and learning English and ICT skills because language and digital skills are of great importance in the education process of the 21st century, but also in all spheres of aviation. our students have the opportunity to learn Aviation English within which the CLIL method is applied, enabling students to accept the content of vocational subjects through the vehicular language. The teaching materials used in CLIL are translated or customized authentic texts that integrate the language and contents of vocational subjects. The authors of these teaching materials are English language teachers at the Aviation Academy. Aiming to provide even better quality of professional personnel, the Aviation Academy decided to open a bilingual classroom in the school year 2019-20. which is the strategic direction in the coming years and for a larger number of classrooms. Teachers who will teach in the bilingual classroom must show the level of English language knowledge at B1 (if teaching takes place in cooperation with language teachers) and/or B2 level with the obligation to raise their language competencies to C1 in the next 5 years. In Aviation Academy, we have a wide use of ICT technology, from the preparation of didactic materials for the teaching process itself, through software used for the needs of grading and logging, to ICT tools applicable in all spheres of aviation. Key person: English language teachers, teachers of non-linguistic subjects who will work in the bilingual department, non-teaching staff involved in European projects. Aviation Academy is the unique school in the region but certainly not the only one in Europe and worldwide. Aviation profession by its nature connects people, cities and countries. During the school year of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 we managed to connect with vocational aviation schools abroad (Sicily and France) and to successfully implement intercultural mobility and student exchange. The school participated as part of the consortium in the project KA2 PETALL Project (Project number -530863-LLP-1-2012-1-NL-KA2_Ka2MP) which was awarded with the Plaque of the European Language Label Award (Bronze plaque). The theme of the project was the Task Based Language Teaching based on ICT. The school has participated in the ECML project "Action research communities for language teachers" in 2016-2017, promoting action research in teaching practice.
