Aeronautical Technical Institute "Arturo Ferrarin"

Istituto Tecnico Aeronautico is a Secondary School set in the area of Education connected to Transport and Logistics. It specializes in Aircraft Piloting. The School policy has focused on widening the range of formative opportunities in order to increase the range of professional fields for employment. Contacts with Italian Aviation Authorities, ENAC and ENAV, have enabled the School and the school Syllabus to be certified. In fact, as the Syllabus complies with all ENAC requirements, students are ready to take their exam to get a FIS (Flight Information Service) or a METAFIS (Meteorologic Info Service) Licence. Curricular, Extracurricular and after-degree Maintenance Courses and Stages have been organized since 1997. A Certified Flight Simulator is the latest lab in the School. It makes practice easier and contributes in getting to the goal of the PPL, giving the School an international dimension. Students Intercultural exchanges have started with Moscow Liceo 1550; Comenius ‘ Workmade@sy’ brought together Italy, Germany, France Turkey, Iceland, Denmark, Spain, Lithuania; in the last two years exchanges were with ‘Aviation Academy’ in Serbia; the Staff were given the opportunity for mobilities (structured training courses) by Erasmus plus project “Bridging Distances 2016’ , which gave them new resources, tools and material, as well as motivation, to get to a European perspective of the learning-teaching process. During the Project, Job shadowing activities have been carried out in the school with colleagues from other countries and Observation Grids have been produced. Extending the use of CLIL methodology to subjects and classes which were not included as compulsory was one of the outcomes of the Erasmus+ . For Istituto Tecnico Aeronautico ‘A. Ferrarin’ working on CLIL methodology has been at the core of the Erasmus+ KA1 for staff mobility from 2016 to 2018. This was intended to allow teachers to: a)improve their language skills and communicative competence b) attend CLIL methodology courses. Increasing the number of CLIL modules for teachers who were already involved in it as well as spreading its use to more teachers and classes was the expected outcome of all activities. An alternative and richer use of CLIL material produced by several teachers, promotes circulation of ideas, approaches and tools, shows the way to the European Dimension for Education and Culture. Istituto Tecnico Aeronautico “Arturo Ferrarin” promotes improvement, progress, opportunities and success for its students to succeed in the field of aeronautics Skills in conceiving, planning, organizing, complying with requirements, anticipating the evolution of the job market, investing resources, proposing and performing change is the support to these objectives. The added value to the School is brought by the expertise of teachers whose formation in the last few years has been on the ground of English Language and CLIL methodology, and who are experimenting in the field of cooperation with colleagues from other Countries in Europe.
